Debbie's Breast Augmentation Journey
Debbie had always thought about breast augmentation in Tampa to "add some curves" to her petite, athletic frame. As a competitive distance runner, her lean, fit build served her well, but she knew that she eventually wanted fuller breasts. "I was happy with my body, but I wanted to feel more like a woman."

The First Steps
With the green light from her mother, Debbie began doing "tons of Internet research." She knew she would have her breast augmentation in the Tampa area where she was living, and she wanted to find an experienced, reputable plastic surgeon. "Because I work in the medical field, board certification and credentials were a big part of my criteria for choosing a surgeon. But I also knew I wanted a surgeon with whom I felt a personal connection."
After researching numerous cosmetic and plastic surgeons in the Tampa Bay, Florida area, she scheduled a consultation with Dr. Jeremy Benedetti. Her mother, who was still apprehensive, and Debbie's twin sister came to the consultation with her.
All three women were instantly impressed with Dr. Benedetti and his staff. "Everyone was meticulous, professional, and thorough, yet very warm and friendly." Debbie says she definitely felt that "personal connection" with Dr. Benedetti, whom she could tell "really cared about my goals and aspirations." Debbie, her mother, and her sister left the consultation feeling comfortable and assured. It was clear that Dr. Benedetti was the right surgeon for the job and, with her family's blessing, Debbie scheduled her surgery for the following month.
Surgery and Recovery
On the day of Debbie's surgery, she recalls that she was "not nervous at all. Thanks to Dr. Benedetti, I was completely confident and excited about my surgery." Dr. Benedetti helped Debbie to choose a 375 cc cohesive silicone gel implant to achieve the look and feel she wanted. "It was very important to me that my results were natural looking, and in proportion with my body." Debbie's mother had gone into the consultation thinking saline implants were the best choice for safety reasons. Dr. Benedetti provided them with all of the safety information and statistics on both implant types and, in the end, she felt very comfortable with Debbie's choice of silicone.
Debbie credits Dr. Benedetti with helping her to have realistic expectations for her recovery. She experienced discomfort for the first 2 or 3 days, and used her prescription pain medication "a little bit" during that time. Her twin sister was there to help her in the initial days following her surgery, when her range of motion was limited and she needed some assistance.
Debbie had her breast augmentation surgery on a Monday, and the bandages came off on Wednesday. "I was really pleased that there was minimal swelling and bruising after only 2 days." She was also pleased that, by Friday, she was "Totally OK. I could do normal stuff and take care of myself. I took 7 days off from work, but I really didn't need to."
Beautiful, Natural Results
Now 8 months after her surgery, Debbie is beyond pleased with her results. She went from an A cup to a C cup, and is enjoying her new body image. "I know it sounds silly, but I love bra shopping now at Victoria's Secret. Before, I probably owned two bras." She finally has the curves she always wanted, but she feels that they look completely natural. "Only the people closest to me know that I've had breast augmentation surgery."
One of those people, her identical twin sister, has paid particularly close attention to Debbie's cosmetic surgery journey. She is so impressed with Debbie's results and her experience with Dr. Benedetti that she is planning for her own breast augmentation with him in the near future. "I've always been the more adventurous one, the one who tries things first. I was the 'guinea pig' and my procedure was a success. Now my sister is really excited to have breast augmentation, too."
Debbie's advice to her sister and any other women considering breast enhancement surgery is to do plenty of research. Be sure to find a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in breast procedures, and with whom you feel that "personal connection." You should be confident, both in your plastic surgeon, and in your decision to undergo breast enhancement. "I felt fine in my own skin before the procedure, but I wanted to feel a little more feminine. This was just something I wanted to do for myself."
